How to make money from weight loss in the year 2009

First of all, it is the most competitive market to enter. While it has the greatest rewards once you get up there and huge amounts of traffic, there is a 99.99999% chance that you won’t make it there. Especially if you are new; don’t have solid amount of experience; have never done search engine optimization before or you don’t have a budget for aggressive promotions.

Listen carefully - here comes the solution!

While it is true, the USA has the biggest English speaking population.

Look at the population sizes for the following countries (data from July 2007 EST.):

5. Ireland 4,109,086

If you don’t count the USA, the rest of the countries represent roughly 117 million people, who are a bit below 40% of the USA market size. But did you know that it is 5x-10x less competitive than the USA market?

What does this mean? It is quite simple – you will need less links and less work to get your sites ranking in order to tap into the 117 million big audience of traffic. Which of course means – making sales quicker and easier than you would expect!

Do you see now? You can easily create websites that pull in $500 to $3000 a month even without entering the USA market and the big boy competition. Also due little competition, in a year’s time you can create 2-3 sites like these and get them ranking and making a solid steady income pretty easily. Isn’t this something you need?

Let us demonstrate this with some data Bellow is a Google Trends chart that shows 3 major industry’s keywords and how they are searched in the world. The big 3 words are: weight loss, diet and slimming.

As you can see, Google Trends shows that these are listed countries that searched for these keywords, sorted by the “weight loss” search volume. From this data you can see that:

1. diet is more popular than weight loss
2. diet keywords are searched proportionally to weight loss keywords
3. in the UK and also in Ireland, people search for slimming type keywords as well
4. India is also showing up as a high volume searcher for these words, but so far we have relatively little information on consumer behaviour for buying diet products on line. If you are from India, it might be your chance to start your weight loss website for India and make some nice income with little efforts selling Proactol!

Less lucrative but possible sales can still come from some major European countries, like Denmark, France, Germany, Spain, and Switzerland. Singapore could be an interesting country to look into too.

Keyword Research

The next stage is keyword research. Depending on which country you are in, you need to open Google Keyword Tool and look at what keywords and in what volumes they are being searched for. https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal Make sure you target the right location. You can change to a desired location by clicking the Edit link as shown in the image.

There you pick the country whose keywords you want to research. Let’s try Canada.

Enter word diet, enter captcha and hit the button. You will see the results like these:

As you can see (Click to see full image), people have searched upon thousands and thousand times for various diet keywords.

To make your results even more meaningful, enable Estimated Avg, CPC and Search Volume Trends. This will give you an idea on how much you would need to pay for the click if you used AdWords; as well as telling you if the nature of search volume is constant or has a casual characteristic. You want it to be constant but don’t neglect new trends and spikes. It is very possible that with little work you could rank for these new keywords and make a small fortune from them too.

So you can play with various keywords, see the volume and their combinations; drill in long tail combinations; make notes; enter various other common terms you know your country people would use, and try to gather a list of possible targets.

One of the best keywords for selling pills like Proactol of course are keywords / phrases that includes words pills, tablets, and capsules. In the example above, it was highly searched term - diet pills. At the same time, you want to look for other keywords that you could use as ideas for articles to attract even more visitors to your pages, and then funnel them by providing links to your Proactol review pages.

In various countries these words will vary as will their volumes. Take UK slimming. It is a popular term but is not searched for in other countries. Here’s an example for UK:

Picking Domain and Hosting

To get the best results we recommend you register a local domain name and get local hosting. Since we are targeting Google – the leader of search engines, it is very important to have local sites as Google will rank your site higher in your country’s Google.

E.g. It is many times easier to get ranked in Google Canada with a .CA domain and Canadian hosting, than it would be if the site was hosted in the Netherlands.

Also we recommend you include one or several words of the main keywords you are going to target, e.g. bestdietpills.ca or slimmingadvice.co.uk. This currently helps with rankings in Google.
