Let’s face it… blogging is popular and there are literally millions of blogs online and thousands of new blogs that get created daily. In my previous post I talked about how you can use a blog towards increasing your affiliate marketing conversions.
Today I want to talk in more detail about how you can create special landing pages within your blog that promote affiliate based products and services. Today’s article is a special one. I have included an online video tutorial, so let’s dig in.
To begin with, this article uses WordPress as the example blog publishing platform. If you haven’t created a WordPress blog then you should take some time to learn more about it. I recommend using the self-hosted WordPress on your own domain name. With that said, WordPress primarily does two things: It gives you the ability to create blog posts and it also offers you a way to build web pages. WordPress is very versatile. With that said, we’re going to look at the web page building aspect of WordPress.
When you create new web pages using WordPress, you have the option to use different templates. This is an option that is not available when you create regular blog posts. Choosing a custom template gives you the ability to create some very nice looking landing pages.
See here is the thing with blogs, they can be a distraction, especially if you are trying to pitch an affiliate product. Most blogs have a sidebar, which have tons of options on them. An example would include the most recent blog posts, most recent comments, and a blogroll. All these additional options reduce your chances towards converting the traffic you send to the page.
Having the ability to create a custom page template is great because you can design the page exactly how you want. Also, you can design the page in a way that omits the sidebar and opens the width of the page to the full size of the blog.
To fully explain the entire process of creating a custom WordPress page, I have taken the time to create an online video tutorial that will guide you through the entire process from start to finish. In this video I will show you briefly how to use FTP, how to edit a WordPress template file and lastly fully explain the process and the reasoning behind why you want to create custom landing pages for your affiliate marketing campaigns.
I hope that you enjoyed reading the article and watching the included video. I am sure that you will have quite a few questions, so I am here to help. Feel free to ask questions in the comment section below.
