Hey Guys,
I’m sure many of you have already heard but Google gave the official word on the launch of its browser early this week. Google Chrome as it will be called apparently represents around 3 years of work and I have to be honest and say I’m looking forwards to seeing what it can do.
Completely new browsers are always fun and they do have the potential to effect affiliate marketing and custom behaviour so it’s worth keeping tabs on them.
It will be fun to see how the browser renders sites too, are we going to have to tweak the styles again, or will it be (as they say) the best browser to design for ever?
Google don’t tend to do things by halves so I am confident that they will create a good program but how much it gets used by the web community is the difficult one to guiess.
In one way I can see a lot of people taking to the browser if it as good as it suggests, especially as FF3 was not the best new version in the world. I can also see people jumping on board for some of the good integration Google Chrome will no doubt offer with other Google products.
On the other side of this I can see people not wanting a new browser because they are set in their IE or FF mindset and are staying there. Choosing a new browser actually takes a lot of work, entering usernames and passwords again, re-doing bookmarks etc. For the lazy user this could be too much.
Well we’ll have to wait and see, the beta will be available soon and the official announcement from Google went live yesterday. Cutts’ and Wall have also posted their views and Google/their mates also did a weird little comic thing about it but its difficult reading.

Good post Craig – Always on the ball
It will be very interesting to see how Chrome works and how it will effect all of us Internet Marketeers.

should be interesting to see if Chrome works more efficiently than FireFox and IE… if it’s faster than Firefox, since isn’t IE, then i’ll use it

It’s interesting that Google released this so soon after signing the contract with Mozilla agreeing to fund them until 2011. Funding the competition doesn’t strike me as an amazing marketing strategy, and Firefox is undoubtedly Chrome’s greatest competition (IE users tend to be those who can’t be bothered/don’t know how to install a new browser, whereas Firefox users have obviously already got past that stage).
I’m looking forward to trying it out but the installation program hasn’t worked for me so far. I’m reinstalling Linux soon (decided to experiment with Windows for a couple of months. Thankfully the experiment is over now) so I’ll probably just wait until then.

Incidentally, patrick, spamming your Christian blog is an interesting move. The links here are nofollow so it’s probably not going to do you much good anyway, and I can’t imagine Yahweh appreciates you using such underhand tactics in his name…

This is a great site, I’d be interested in trading links if you would be. I have a similar blog in this niche.

Does google chrome have an affiliate program that allows publishers to make money when people download it from their website??

Nope, its free of charge so it would not make sense for them to run an affiliate program.

Adsense used to have an affiliate program for Firefox and paid commissions when you referred someone who downloaded the software. Firefox is free of charge. I’d think that if Google wanted to rapidly gain market share, they could do an affiliate program for referrals.
