It started innocently enough. A bit here, a bit there. No problem. I can control it. I can give up any time. It’s what we all tell ourselves . . . isn’t it?

It’s now been over 10 years and I’m ashamed to say my addiction is worse than ever. I indulge on a daily basis. And to make it worse, I no longer hide away. That’s right, it’s so bad now that I do it in public!

Ahhhhhhhhh! What have I become?

I find it utterly amazing that more people haven’t succumbed to its charms. Yes, there are pockets of addicts scattered across the globe but until recently I had never really met any of them in person. And because of this it was such a lonely existence.

They just don’t understand. They think they know what’s best for me. “You’ll go blind Phil” they tell me in their judgemental tone.

Recently I started a full time job as Product Manager for Making You Richer. Yes, I fully understand the implications. It’s like an alcoholic taking a job in a brewery.

But I don’t care.

My name is Phil Coleman and I’m addicted to Internet Marketing. There . . . I’ve said it. And it feels good too let it out.

O.K. look, I know this is a little off the wall. But honestly, that’s how I feel sometimes. “Normal” people really don’t get it. It can actually scare them.

Phil: “Dave mate, did you know that I’ve had such a cheap CPC and high CTR on my PPC campaign that I’ve tripled my ROI?”
Dave: “That’s great Phil. Oh my God, is that the time?! I have to go and regain the will to live. Bye.”

Do you experience the same kind of thing from normal people? The blank stares? The fake interest? The pretending to be dead? I’m sure you must do. Unless of course you live in some kind of Internet Marketing Commune? You know, a hippy type of thing.

Hey . . . wait a minute. That’s not a bad idea. We could start a commune! An 80gb mega broadband with no download limit, free dual core laptop for all, regularly guru visited, real life internet marketing community. Are you with me on this? I’ll bring the wood if you bring the nails. Let’s goooooooooooooo!

In fact let’s have a little competition. Let’s name our imaginary Commune. Come on, it’ll be fun.
How about . . . wait for it . . . ‘Affiliate Acres’? Works for me. Any ideas of your own?

Let’s hear them.

Glad you enjoyed it Richmond and thanks for your comment. I realise it wasn’t very educational but I thought I’d try exactly what you mentioned . . . a different style of post. Just want to bring a smile to you hard working affiliates. Look out for my next post tommorow and expect to smile again. I am working on some really educational and useful posts though, so bear with me mate.

I realised I was an addict when I was set on the bus looking at the adverts. It occured to me that they did not have the right structure for the advert. Company name was first, instead of a benefit and so on… You would never run a campaign like that online.

Affiliate hopeful here. I haven’t made my first dollar online and I’m already in Affiliates Anonymous. I fear I’ve traded one addiction for another. The counselor said on graduation to beware of the switching of addictions. It’s 3:30am and I can’t put down the mouse, looking for the perfect niche affiliate program, to promote on my website and blog, both in the planning stages. Phil I found your blog through a link from another site. Great work!
